IF THE VICE PRESIDENT DOES IT, THAT MAKES IT LEGAL

Look at this joker. Does he really think he's still fooling anyone but the most deluded right wing fool?
Ever since the 911 Attacks Cheney has been predicting more attacks if We The People don't let him use torture and make a mockery of the Constitution.
He's still at it. But his purpose doesn't have anything to do with saving American asses. He's just in his own twisted way lobbying for the present administration to keep all the warrantless wiretaps and torture systems in place to save his own ass. He figures if the Obama Administration uses the same tactics he did then it will be unable to prosecute him for any transgressions he and his cronies committed.
When it's all said and done, Cheney and Blagojevich can share cell and tell each other tall tales about how they "did nothing wrong."

Dick Cheney is a badass motherfucker.

The man has balls. If only they had been used for good instead of evil.

What if he didn't pay his taxes?

Senor Badass said...

Actually, there is a legally substantive argument that the executive branch had the authority to do everything they did.

Senor Badass said...

It is not at all objectively clear that the Bush administration did anything illegal. Again, you express your opinion, (with no education in law whatsoever), and call it "truth".

There is such a thing as objective truth these day.

It is true that Daschle and Geithner are tax dodgers.

Just as your master Dick Cheney fears the truth Senor Badass, so do you. The man is a scumbag.

And yes. I happen to think that Daschle and Geitner knew what they were doing. I've been treasurer for organizations and campaigns enough to know that if it looks like income. Smells like income. And some guy from the IRS might think it's income, It's income. Report it.

As a loyal Democrat it pains me that they didn't reveal their discretions to President Obama's team before accepting nominations to cabinet posts.

And sorry Senor Badass. Nixon tried the "If the Presdient does it, that makes it legal" defense.

Senor Badass said...

That's not the defense that Cheney uses. Admit it... you don't think what the Bush administration did should be legal, so you have decided it wasn't. You have no idea either the extent of what they did, or the legality of anything they did. So, you are still not telling any "truth". Just giving your opinion.

I could make a better case for campaign finance reform being illegal.

I could make a better case that Christopher Dodd should be jail than you can that Dick Cheney should.

JoMala "Truth 101" Kelly said...

Well then make your case Senor Badass. You've spent your entire blog life saying you can argue this or that but it just ends up a type the F word fest for you.
Cheney is scumbag. I said it and I'm glad. His claim that the vice presidency isn't part of any branch of government stands on it's own as ridiculous. Defend his stance Senor Badass. Defend his withholding documents from his secret meetings with energy company execs and lobbyists. Defend his secret meetings with Addison and the rest of the neocon cabal. Then explain why if he isn't part of any branch of government why we paid his salary for 8 years and give this asshole a pension.

Good luck...

Update your talking points, this is from 2007:

"Dick Cheney's office is abandoning a justification for keeping the vice president's secret papers out of the hands of the National Archives, while asserting a new argument for withholding them.

Officials working for Cheney had tried to claim he is separate from the executive branch, but they will no longer pursue that defense, senior administration officials tell The Politico.

That amounted to throwing in the towel on the claim that the vice president is distinct from the executive branch, according to administration officials speaking on condition of anonymity, and the White House has no plans to reassert the argument."

So, I am not going to defend a point the Vice President will no longer defend.

I never said I would, as you brought that up out of the blue.

It's as though I told you I made the best apple pie in the world and you challenge me to a jump rope contest.

I didn't suggest that I would defend anything.

You indicated in the original blog post that Cheney has broken the law. You have yet to back that claim up, you have simply said in various ways that you don't like him and that you disagree with him.

So, while I don't defend his assertion that he was not part of the executive branch, I do suggest that his assertion was not an illegal act.

Bingo!! Give the man a prize!! You hit the nail on the head and thinking outside the box. Cheney doesn't do anything that's not somehow in his best interest.

Doesn't he have a mortuary to report to somewhere?

JoMala "Truth 101" Kelly said...

You ain't dealing with some naive boy here Senor Badass. I do have extensive experience dealing with scumbags in the mold of Cheney. Look at this phrase you cited: "no plans to reassert the argument." Particularly the "no plans to." That is a common phrase used by somebody that is lying or about to in order to cover his ass. How many times have you heard a politician say he has no plans to run at this time. Or a baseball player saying he has no plans to file for free agency or refuse to report. You're an educated man Senor Badass. It's too bad they didn't teach enlightenment at your university.

Senor Badass said...

Look, dude, if the original assertion made by Cheney and his legal team was illegal, why had no one arrested him? Why do you think Cheney should be in jail?

Senor Badass said...

Do you believe that congress should have unfettered access to all records of anyone in the executive branch?

Shouldn't Cheney then have the right to call anyone in Congress to testify in front of him? There are three equal branches of government.

Senor Badass said...

Truth is, he's not been compelled to provide whatever the hell it is they want, because nobody has the absolute power to compel him. Right?

JoMala "Truth 101" Kelly said...

He's not being compelled because the "deciders" don't think it would be politically expedient. Your around about observation that those that accuse may be guilty as Cheney has some merit. Both parties laid down for Bush for six years. Who knows who knew what when.

Did it ever occur to you that the reason we've never had any more attacks is because we took actions which stopped them?

Do you not think that there are terrorists out there who would happily set off a nuclear bomb in one or our cities?

Can you really believe that the jihadist threat is entirely made up?

Lots of ranting here, but no facts.

JoMala "Truth 101" Kelly said...

Two of the actions were unnecessary and created more terrorists Tom. The Iraq invasion was unecessary. Saddam could have been taken out with a cruise missle landing on each of his palaces. The one that hit Khadaffi's house did the trick on that prick.

Torture is barbaric and unnecessary. I want those that would do us harm punished as much as anyone. I don't want those that did us no harm tortured into saying they did because they were being tortured.
