THE MORONS SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH

In a way, one almost has to admire the way Dick Armey and FOX News have harnessed the energy of masses of idiots into a huge political force.
The Tea Baggers have managed, despite their ignorance and gullibility, to become the dominant force in the Democrat and Republican parties.
Republicans politicos flock to these tea bag events to make speeches claiming they are one with the anti government, pro Medicare, Social Security, don't take my guns, don't raise my taxes, don't cut any spending that will cost me any inconvenience, real Americans.
Right wing shills like Andrew Breitbart have made a comfortable living stirring up these idiots. They roar with approval when he bashes President Obama and feigns outrage at spending despite half the crowd he's stirring up are on some form of government program.
And despite the obvious ignorance of most of these people attending these things. Despite the lies of Fox News about the size of their crowds, Democrats think they have to pander to these nuts as much as Republicans.
So they come up with useless bills they claim are revenue neutral. Except for the insurance companies that will see big increases in revenue.
One day I hope the Democrats will wake up and work for the interests and ideals of the Democratic Party. If we're going to cow tow to the Tea Baggers and the Republicans that exploit them, President Obama may well be moving out of the White House after 2012. The Republicans will resume their practices of spending, borrowing and foreign entanglements that cost American lives while enriching the richest and most powerful.
But the Tea Baggers will be too stupid to notice because Fox News will have a new set of signs for them to display at the next party.

You have hit the proverbial nail on the head my new friend. The exploitation of the weak and feeble minded is a tactic almost perfected by my former collegues.

It is fool proof because it is fools that fall for it.

Thank you for your blog Truth. Your zeal, insight and humor are refreshing and enlightening.

Yea, like you mentioned over at MM's, I don't understand why the left has been so ineffective at exploiting the ignorant masses.
Perhaps we need a discussion of why.

Great point SH. We work like hell to keep the poor, minorities and unions on our side. Hell. We're even getting rich people like Gates and Buffet on our side. Why let the right have the ignorant masses in their voting bloc without a fight.

Truth,
I think you may have missed the booing and hissing when any politician spoke at Tea Parties. This isn't about Dem or Repub, it's about the spending of government that is digging the hole deeper and deeper. The Repubs have contributed their fair share of the spending, that's for sure.

I was at a few and I noticed that politicians weren't real welcome at any of them. Kind of like the first ant at the picnic. I only wish I was smart enough to figure out I was being manipulated. Woes me. Oh well, maybe one day I'll wise up. But the feeble-minded like me really will go down with the Repub ship.

As for crowd estimates, the police are more believable than news media because we were concerned that we be able to match the manpower we employed to the size of the crowd. It wasn't about ideology, it was about survival. A much higher standard.

Good day, sir.

The answer to "Why" is a simple answer. The power to destroy is far more powerful than the power to create. It is easier to say no than it is to say yes. As long as these fundamental truths remain true, the Republican party has a leg to stand on. Making any kind of change means that the people in power will no longer be in power. Money is no the issue, although it is what the teabag promoters would have you believe. The question is, and has always been, who is holding the keys to the kingdom. Obama thinks more middle class people should have to keys to their destinies. Republicans want the keys to keys to remain where they are, with their rich buddies at the top of the food chain.

It is so ironic that the people our republican friends so vehemently defend are the very people jack up the price of goods and services to deny them coverage and fatten the wallets of billionaires. The republican machine exists to keep the wool over our eyes so that the rich get richer, and everyone else be damned.

The reason the right are nearly inexploitable is because they would rather not think for themselves. too many people in this country are satisfied with being sheep. the kind of rule republicans promise ensure the sheep remain stupid so they can continue to operate under the veil of secrecy. saddening...

Democrats should never pander to the ignorant masses, the one issue, one idea sheep do not belong in my democratic party. Democrats, whether in power or out, should make it their life's work to take the ignorance out of the masses.

What we are seeing from the teabaggers et. al., is ignorance in action, and it is very disturbing. They seem happy with the knowledge they have and totally content with their opinions, the perfect recipe for continued ignorance.

And yet it's not a winning strategy in practice. The voters seem to be smarter than the politicians.

Doug Hoffman in NY-23 embraced the paranoid-crazy right and became its champion, and he lost a race that nearly everyone thought was a sure win. He lived by the teabag, and died by the teabag.

As Frank Schaeffer said, this is not a big minority, it's just a loud minority. Politicians will learn that being intimidated by them is not the road to success.

It's The Trick and Treat Republicans. Republicans Trick the masses into remaining Serfs to Corporate Masters, Thankful for the crumbs from the Corporations Table/

Then the Republicans Treat themselves to Billions at the Taxpayers expense.

But, screw those damn poor people and their food stamps and hope for decent medical care or the ability to get married to whom they wish.

Ther reasons for good people like law and Order Teacher not wanting to be described as "Republicans" are well documented here.

The republican party has been exposed time and again as being the party of the rich and not much else. It uses appeals to pro lifers, anto gays, and blind evangelicals to win elections.

The reality is, although they have been somewhat successful at keeping some of our fellow Americans who happen to be gay from being married, for the most part, their "open" agenda has been a failure. More, not less spending and government. More debt. Foreign entanglements.

The republicans only real success has been the one they don't talk about in the open. The vast transfer of wealth to the wealthiest.

You've got it exactly right. My last post dealt with this topic as well -- specifically, how the Republicans labeling themselves "fiscally conservative" is a fraud.
