ATLAS SHRUGGED. THEN HE GOT AN ERECTION

An important lesson learned by the right since Ayn Rand was their darling, was the public wants it's darlings to be hot.
Face it. We live in sexist society. The right is not encumbered by any morals or guilt. They want want their message of greed and corporate welfare to heard by everyone. And if they need a major news network to hire the hottest babes it can find to deliver their message, too bad for the politically correct crowd.
Ayn Rand videos on You-Tube get some decent traffic, sure. But for the most part people click to something else after a few seconds of watching them. Part of it is they are boring and silly. But Ayn is a plain looking woman at best. Not even the most diehard rightie is going to spend much time watching Ayn Rand when Madonna's nipple is just a click away.
This need for beauty permeates both genders of righties. In the case of the right wing ladies, they all have to have hot chick profile pictures. They rarely if ever say anything that hasn't been said by Limbaugh or Beck. But they get lots of attention for repeating it and all the right wing guys think they might get a kiss or something if they comment on how wise the right wing ladies are.
I visited Pam Gellar's blog, Atlas Shrugged, once. She is a fine looking lady. In fact, for the most part, that's almost a requirement these days to be a mouthpiece for the Republicans. For all her goofiness, Michelle Bachman ain't bad dudes. And she gets paraded out every night at some right wing party.
Sarah Palin road her good looks to the republican nomination for vice president.
Don't think for a second John McCain didn't know Palin was an intellectual lightweight who happened to be in the right place at the right time during Alaska's governor's race. But Jesus. Look at those legs. And she's not afraid to bait her own hook.
There is a field of candidates lining up to run for president on the republican side in 2012. They are wasting their time. Unless Sarah Palin gains a ton of weight or a hotter republican lady comes along, it's Palin in 2012.

Ironic that conservatives are drawn to Ayn Rand, a confirmed and committed atheist.

Let us hope it's Palin/Beck in 2012:

A woman whose foreign policy cred is Alaska's proximity to Russia [that's it], and who voluntarily quit her job as governor so she could get someone to help her "write" a book in 4 months, and a guy who can't spell but can cry on cue.

(BTW, I invite anyone to check out both these candidates' educational background.)

Perfect embodiment of where the GOP is today.

As long as someone says what the righties want to hear, neither truth, education, or criminal record matter.

Why do women have to be "hot" but men can be old and ugly? That is so NOT fair! It's like this in just about everything. Especially movies. Older male actor stars with young, hot, beautiful female actress. What's the scoop! I think this is DISCRIMMINATION! SEXIST! RACIST! Or whatever..... -tion, -ist I can apply it to!

Fux News is the Hot Blonde News Channel. As far as I can tell, *all* its female anchors are blonde.

If hot guys like me were the norm then the righties would be angry at the media pandering to healthy, liberated women and gay guys that appreciate hot guys like myself.

Once again Pamela, the right wing, old ugly white male society has set the agenda. No eye candy for you Sister.

I think they have a hot brunette on FUX also Stimpson. I'm waiting for them to just go all in and have twins. Now that we have exposed them, they might as well go all the way.

As one true independent conservative (read classical liberal if you like)I have read 90% of Ayn Rands publications.

She is not physically attractive but her intellectual capacity was and remains so today. Ayn Rand would be throughly disgusted with BOTH political parties today.

As a person well read in Rand I can say she described herself as a liberal, and in fact was never a fan of the Republican party or the conservative movement during her lifetime.

When I want to look at pretty or glamorous people I watch TV. When I want to stimulate thought I read Rand.

Seriously, you can't possibly believe that the majority of any political parties base is concerned more with visual appearance than substance.

And now back to Philosophy; Who Needs It, by Ayn Rand. As I look at her picture on my desk.

The message delivery is what's important to the elites in the republican party. And although I firmly believe the republican message is a far cry from what it actually practices, their delivery by the use of attractive females is without question.

Look at who the messengers of the republicans are RN. FOX News. Other then Great Van Sustern I can't think of any lady on there that wouldn't qualify as a supermodel.

Although Ann Coulter isn't exactly a turn on, she wears suggestive little black dresses that make up for her less than awe inspiring looks.

Look at the leading name for republican presidential nominee. Sarah Palin.

I'm not attacking you RN. I think you have alot to say that is worth listening to. And I understand you're no slave to either party. I'm just defending my premise that the republicans are using hot chicks to deliver a message.

TRUTH - I see you point and will not argue it. I have made the same point personally in discussion with people.

Perhaps FOX just does a better "marketing" job than the more liberal leaning networks. :-) (Chuckling to myself)

I've noticed that. Whenever a scandal has a steamy side, you can be sure that Faux Noise will show the most and biggest cleavage.

Hooray scandal!

Republican voters will never let a woman be their nominee. They may want to do her, but they won't vote for her.

I forgot to point out that Rand's "philosophy" was just a rationalization for her Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

JoBama "Truth 101" Kelly said...

I've exposed the deluded views of Rand several times but the righties refuse to listen Libhom.

Her premise is that government's role is to protect the wealth of the wealthy. That she managed to write a 1069 page book based on this is a testament to her vivid imagination. In the interest of fairness and balance, I give her credit for that.

Parade all the bimbos you want in front of me, there is nothing more sexy than a beautiful mind.

Rand, a highly intelligent woman, was not a "rightie" herself. She was in fact more liberal than the "righties" realize.

And in a historical sense she was in fact a "classical liberal" along the lines of our founding fathers.

There is much value in the entire body of work she produced. Those who do not understand her never will. Those that do will find themselves smiling everyday.

Wonderful thing choice. Don't you think.

It would be useful if any of you did even a smidgen of research before posting, so as not to embarrass yourselves so.

Ayn Rand was written out of the conservative movement long ago, most famously by Whittaker Chambers himself in the pages of National Review.

Parts of Rand's Objectivist philosophy are elements of conservatism. Her distain of government redistribution of income being the best example. She also championed individual liberty, and opposed things like FDR's "Second Bill of Rights."

But ultimately there are more differences than similarities. Rand hated all religion, while conservatives obviously do not. Rand also opposed all private charity, something that is also obviously antithetical to conservatism. Further, her insistence on complete laissez-faire capitalism goes farther than any real conservative would. We on the right do not object to government regulation of the economy, just less so than liberals.

Thus, Objectivists are neither left nor right, as commonly understood. Like libertarians, they occupy their own space. Let's not caricature conservatism by linking us with her.

Les Carpenter said...

Tom - Great points. You are obviously knowledgable of Rand and her Objectivist philosophy.

Rand was a student, and firm proponent of, Aristotelian logic. She was also an avid proponent of the the values expressed in the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution.

Her primary issue was the the inclusion of a higher authority (God)with respect to the inalienable rights of man. She believed it opened the door to the "mystics realm" and irrationality of faith and religion. She did not "hate" all religions, she was simply an atheist and believed religion is irrational. In some ways, given historical as well as present references, she was right.

The only point I may question, and I would need to refer back to her work, is that Rand had no issue with individuals and private charitable work. I believe her issue was if the organization had any involvement or ties to government.

Rational Nation USA: The idea that there is much value in the rantings of someone trying to rationalize Narcissistic Personality Disorder is comical. She should have been put in a mental institution. She really was that far gone.

Ayn Rand was NOT a "classical liberal" in the same sense as the Founding Fathers. That is complete nonsense.

Truth got it right when he said "her premise is that government's role is to protect the wealth of the wealthy".

Conservative Founding Father Alexander Hamiltion was in favor of protecting our domestic markets, and would have been speaking out against this "free trade" and outsourcing BS which has resulted in almost all of our manufacturing and a lot of our service jobs being shipped overseas. The traitors at the Ayn Rand Institute are all in favor of selling out the American worker to benefit transnational corporations.

Exactly the same as the Republican Party. I'm aware that the Objectivists don't like it that the Republicans have co-opted only a portion of their platform, and point to Rand as a model. They have done it though, despite what "Tom the Redhunter" says. I've done my research and there is a linkage.

Les Carpenter said...

libhom - Off base, but you are entitled to your opinion.

w-dervish - when in doubt revert to class warfare, right?

I has spent much time in the study of Rand's philosophy. So I have done my research as well.

In in any field, knowledgeable people given the same, data, will intrepret and understand it differently.

Fine and well. The beauty is we are free to disagree for as long as long as we wish and until it becomes obvious who is correct.

Tell you what gentlemen. I've hated that book since I had to read it in high school. Luckily the test on it was an open book. The best part of that damn book was at the end when Galt traced the sign of the dollar in the sand.

TAO has posted and commented on Atlas Shrugged and Ayn Rand. Grunge-E-Gene of Disaffected and It Feels So Good has a post up about it now. I'm glad. I'm sick of Ayn Rand and Atlas Shrugged. I was sick of them in eleventh grade. What makes this even worse, if not ironic, the teacher that made me read that G$%^^&&& book was a flaming liberal that made me look like William F. Buckley.
