Golf has always been as serious a subject to me as politics. So what happened at the PGA takes precedence over the other issues of the day.
There are a hundred guys on the tour that hit the ball as well and practice just as hard. Maybe more than that. But there is a constant among good players. They all are great putters and they expect to make every putt.
I haven't seen that from Tiger this year. His stroke, when he was at his best came from his torso. Since then it has shifted alternately from his shoulders to his arms and back to his shoulders. When grooved, the torso stroke is the best. You can't miss your line or miss hit the ball. But it takes hours to groove. Maybe with the two kids he doesn't have time.
This happened to almost all the great players. Eventually there comes a point when you just don't think you're going to make them all and you get defensive. It happened to Palmer. Watson. Hogan. Snead. Even Nicklaus finally.
Without that confidence, Tiger will still win his share of tournaments. But his victories will be hard fought because he won't be able to separate himself from the field like he could.
This may be good for golf though.

Being competitive is one thing. Knowing how to accept defeat is another. Tiger is more than a Sore Loser, he’s a Bad sport. Woods is a whiny little punk when he loses. The fact that he is a great player does not give him a free pass in this regard. Is this what we want to teach kids?
Tiger Woods is one of the least professional of all the young golfers on the PGA Tour. I only know a few spoiled rich kids that display the temper that he does if things do go as he expects.
There should be penalties for such displays as throwing clubs or slamming the ground with a club. Who the hell is he to display that kind of un professional diplay of temper on the course?
There are 10's of millions of people that are OUT of work today and he who has made 100's of millions playing a game curses and throws his club in the air because he missed a shot! I say screw him and the donkey he rode in on.
It’s about time someone puts Tiger Woods in his place. No doubt the greatest golfer probably of all time, but he does throw clubs when he makes a bad shot and you can see him mouthing profanities on camera as well..
Oh yeah, he loves pumping that fist when that great shot goes in, but he acts like a baby when it doesn’t go his way. That’s not being competitive. That’s being a sore sport and a jerk. I’m tired of this guy always getting a free pass for everything. Too much damn PC in the way we treat him

I fully agree with the NY Guy. Yes Poor Tiger showed his true colors in losing the golf tournament, instead of being gracious in defeat in probably what was one the biggest upsets in golfing history, he storms off to the clubhouse in defeat… His putter wasnt working today everybody knows that feeling, and oh by the way he still took home a very nice paycheck, give this guy his day Tiger he played superb and you were a little off. Take that frown off your face, and now you know how other golfers and America feels, with the whole fist pumping thing, you didnt like as know likes it when you do it. Take a lesson, you are the greatest golfer in the world but it takes more then that to be a class act… You failed today, maybe you can learn something from this, to prove everyone wrong quit being a jerk…. Personally, I couldn't care less if he wins or not. I think Tiger has been such a spoiled punk for years now. Ever since his father died.
And I think Woods showed absolutely NO class in not being interviewed after his finish at the PGA. He also showed no class when he missed the cut at the British Open earlier this year.

I see the scholars are out again. I didn't see the match as I was watching my Reds blow a game to the mighty Nationals. Anyway, even Tiger is human. As you said it's good for golf to have that human interest story and everybody loves the underdog. Tiger can't win every week, although it certainly seems he might.

I must admit that I don't have much of an interest in golf. Hockey and Baseball are much more my cup of tea. I don't know what it takes to be a good golfer but I will take your word for it. My experience is taking my boys miniature golfing! :-)
I think that the measure of a man it is not whether he wins or loses but HOW he wins or loses.

I totally agree he is angry with himself, but that does not excuse his actions. When my son played baseball, he struck out. He then responded by throwing his helmet. I explained to him that it was not acceptable behavior. You can be upset without unsportsmanlike conduct.
It is the same thing with professionals. I expect even more from them because they are professionals.

Being hard on oneself is fine and even is a motivational tool. Throwing your clubs because you lost or missed a shot is totally different. I am very hard on myself when playing sports but would never display that kind of behavior.

I was a pretty decent golfer at one time Jenn but I've been at best a medioce putter since my early twenties. That's how I know all the throeires about putting. I've tried them all. I just suck at puytting. Tiger is safe.

It seems Mr. Woods is getting a bit too much hatred thrown his way for doing something gifted professional athletes do all the time, and I believe it's race based.
Just watched this guy from Korea out put him on every hole, out play him in every way and shoot the best shot I have ever seen since Cory Pavin in the US Open. Then Tiger acts like a spoiled sore loser idiot and refuses to congratulate the first ever Asian winner of a major tournament and walks off without talking to media, I am done with that kid after this punk performance, I mean how hard it is to say "ya I putted like crap, and got out played" Tiger looks like a jerk in my book and I was a big fan!!!!
I also saw him at the British Open. Sure, he was doing his usual cussing like a sailor routine but at least he wasn't throwing clubs and slamming them to the ground like he did here..

I've been keeping out of this for the most part because I said what I had to say already, but this statement is the epitome of a racist. To assume that because we criticize an athlete for his actions it must be because he is black is playing the race card and honestly doesn't even deserve a response. I guess I was just feeling generous today!
From a competitive standpoint, it's like this. If you hit bad shots. Strike out. Throw an interception. Drop the ball. Fumble. Trip over your own two feet. Double fault. Then laugh about it, you're not serious enough.
Tiger is still agood putter. That don't cut it if you want to win more majors than Jack Nicklaus. Palmer lost his stroke after the 64 Masters. Hogan lost his after the car wreck. He was the only one able to make up for it with ball striking. Vijay Singh is close but he's not as good a ball striker as Hogan was. Snead lost his and had to go to the belly style. Tom Watson lost his in the early 80's. I think Tiger's total dominance is over. It's too bad it's over because he lost his stroke and nerve instead of players challenging him with games equal to his.
I don't watch sports, other than what my sons play. But let me say this, if Tiger Woods is throwing his club then that is showing poor sportsmanship, even if he is mad at himself. My husband is a very good golfer and he throws his club at times and it ticks me off! It doesn't look good. I tell HIM that, too!
So, from a girl who throws a ball "like a girl", don't be a poor sport even when you are mad at yourself.
I went to almost exclusively swearing after bad shots. It's alot cheaper than breaking golf clubs with errant throws.

In a Socialist environment (all pigs are equal but some are more equal than others) all power and all winning rests with the government bureaucracy. Testing or stressing the bureaucracy causes it to react and squash the individual.
In a free enterprise system, the reward goes to the most innovate, to the risk taker, to the inventor, to the collaborator who brings great ideas together. The two systems are incompatible.
I think that Tiger Woods fall into the later category.
I also think that he's a pussy.
I don't think I'd call Tiger a pussy to his face. He looks pretty tough to me. Not as tough as that Just Keep on Walking guy. But still, pretty tough.
It pretty sad that someone of his caliber is going down and we have to add the problem with his divorce because he lost a lot of sponsors and their kids. I don't expect that anytime soon he will be improve.
