REQUIEM FOR A DERANGED LEFTWING BAKER

There are millions of blogs on the web. For every Huffington Post, Daily Kos or Drudge Report that gets 600,000 visitors a day, and bring in loads of revenue, there are thousands that get a tiny fraction of that traffic. Their operators blog because they enjoy blogging and sharing ideas with others that enjoy blogging. We're not going to make a difference. We're probably not going to change anyone's mind. Basically, we're mixing it up, laughing, getting pissed every now and then. And having a good time.

If you never read Deranged Leftwing Baker's blog, you missed a real treat. He was smart. Clever. Well informed and had a great sense of humor. He was and I hope still is, as fine a blogger as anyone that ever blogged.

Why he left, I don't know. But I believe we are a big community. When a stand up guy with a talent for making us think and laugh as DLB did as well as anybody leaves, we all lose.

Wherever the road takes you Deranged Leftwing Baker, know that this small time blogger appreciates what you've given all of us. Good luck to you my friend...

He was also on my daily read and I was kind of shocked when he just disappeared without explanation. Hopefully, he'll be around to read this and know that some of us actually do care about what's up with him. He is a most excellent blogger.

I jousted with him as Fauxmaxbaer. I hope he decides to return. While I agreed with him on little, I enjoyed the interaction.

I saw that he disappeared, too, and wondered if any of you guys knew why.

I do hope he returns.

Is this another trend? There are a couple other bloggers that have decided to quit, although they've given notice.

I had a cinnamon roll in DLB's honor this morning.

The fight for abortion, debauchery and public displays of affection we Nihilists toil at will not be the same without DLB.

Thank you all for the kind words. I feel like Tom Sawyer at his funeral.

You know, you have a few libations and decide, what the Hell, think I'll burn my blog to the ground. Time for a fresh start.

If the welcome mat is out and the porch light on, I'll stop in and say hi from time to time. Keep up the good fight, y'all. Except for LOT, to him give up, it's a lost cause. Just kidding.

I need to reassess my priorities and goals in the blogosphere. Felt inertia kicking in, in my case. Good luck to all in your chosen directions.

Thanks again, Truth. I feel a bit embarrassed to still be alive, though.

exDLB - I'm glad you're still in the bloggerhood and, no worries, I was a commenter without a blog for ages before I came to roost at the Swash Zone with the most generous invitation of 8PUS.
I will look forward to seeing your comments and insights.
Best of luck on your journey through reassesment of your life and times.

You mean I wasted a perfectly good eulogy her?

Based on his post here and a conversation I had with DLB, I have a feeling we've not heard the last of him on his favorite blogs (which, fortunately for us, are our favorite blogs, as well.)

It'll likely become more like an occasional treat than the several times a week we've grown used to, but speaking out 'round here is a hard habit to break, and for the most part, we're a pretty lovable (though perhaps not especially modest) bunch.

While I'm sorry to see less of him, I can appreciate the notion to simplify & reevaluate one's life, online & off. It takes a certain kinda person to be willing to take it all down and leave it all behind. While it ain't my style--I'm a packrat by nature, prone to logging my posts & comments on my computer, just in case the blog(s) to which they're posted go down--I think it's an admirable and brave thing to do. (Perhaps it's because I'm very slowly but surely divesting myself of years of clutter, trying to only hold onto the essentials, so I can sorta relate to the impetus, if not the act itself.)

I truly wanted to type a remark in order to appreciate you
for some of the awesome tips and hints you are giving here.

My prolonged internet investigation has at the end been compensated
with good details to talk about with my colleagues. I would state that that we site
visitors actually are quite blessed to dwell in a useful
network with many special people with very beneficial strategies.
I feel very much fortunate to have come across your entire weblog
and look forward to many more excellent minutes reading here.
Thanks once again for a lot of things.
