How Obama Could Destroy The Republican Party In 2013

I've always said that respect is born out of fear. And up to now republicans had no reason to fear President Obama. They always got their way. Until now.

President Obama relentlessly drove home the message that republicans are more concerned keeping tax cuts for millionaires than middle class Americans. Which is of course the truth. And today Boehner and Cantor had to back down and the middle class will keep it's payroll tax cut.

While I never wanted the payroll tax cut in the first place, I'm glad President Obama stood up these assholes. And this should show him that they will back down. Enough of them did that there could be a rift growing in the republican ranks. And to keep it growing republicans must be afraid that President Obama will continue to stand up to them and not compromise everything away. In addition to that, as Obama's power grows, his influence among the electorate grows. More republicans in districts they think are vulnerable will start acting like Democrats in hopes Obama will not campaign against them.

All Obama has to do is win in 2012. Considering the idiots in the republican presidential primaries, that should be pretty easy. The tea bagger phenomena continues to wane. I was even thinking of running for Congress against the kook Bobby Schilling who is against taxes and government while the biggest employer in his hometown is government. (I'd do everything here as it's free and I'm out of the good graces of the democrat hierarchy who in the end will get whomever they choose through the primary anyway)

Another good thing for Obama to do to make republicans afraid is to hold off on the pipeline they want. The big thing for republicans is pipeline contractors that donate them and their pacs big bucks. So screw em and make sure every chance anyone on the left gets remind America how republicans don't care about their property and safety when a big company is trying to make a big profit TAKING YOU LAND THROUGH EMINENT DOMAIN so they can build a pipeline from Canada to Texas through it and ship the oil overseas.

And Obama could actually make the dirty coal plants that Congress directed the EPA to clean up 20 years ago to finally clean up and quit spitting tons of mercury and other dangerous chemicals in the air we breathe. And all the republican lives about lost jobs need to be exposed since we will still need power and it will have to come from a new or updated plant which will use the people from the old plants plus [provide jobs for the people building and or upgrading the old plants. There isn't much more heartbreaking than a little baby coughing and nothing we can do about it because republicans want to allow big utilities to keep spitting mercury and sulphur into the air. Dead babies are no joke. But apparently contributions from big energy companies are more important to republicans than dead babies.

This was a move to make Republicans look bad, and that's easy. It had nothing to do with guts on the Presidents part. If he had convictions, political honor, or courage we would have seen it by now. He does not. it's election time - tell them what they want to hear.

Joe - Shouldn't that read:

'How Obama Will Destroy the Republican Party in 2013?'

Ranch Chimp said...

I was glad Joe, that the Democrat's also stood up to this and gave a tad hold out, being sick of the one way street and hostage taking the GOP been playin so hard. The tax thing wasnt my issue as much as not giving in to the GOP and Boehner was to me. And like Ron Paul said in a video I posted a few dayz back ... I also knew that the GOP would have to throw in the towel on this, for any amount of extension they can get, because politically speaking, the GOP's ball's have been to the wall .. they have no worthwhile candidate's, saying nothing new, we all know by now that politician's cant fix the mess that the major financial entities got us in, mathematically speaking in this new global market arena, they (GOP) also been way too obvious on this tax haven push especially for mainly international interest's, and have ignored too much domestically ... if the GOP continues with these type's game's of desperation because of pressure from their financial support constituent's, the Dem's wont need to give it to them, knee deep in their ass ... they'll give it to themselves ... even their debate's have been a freakshow failure. Enough from me.

Thanx for the read Joe and ya'll have a decent Christmas ....

Let us hope Obama follows your advice all next year, otherwise he'll end up in your box at top right, saying, "I should have listened to Truth101!

Obama's going to approve the pipeline, Truth (he pretty much has to). He's just waiting 'til after the election to do it - the fact that he doesn't want to further infuriate the base, etc..

Rational Nation USA said...

Will - I hope you're right. I'm not so confident. After the election we may see the real person who no longer has to consider reelection. It could go either way.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping the President does the right thing.

I too am disgusted at the acts of the republicans RN.

I hear you Sue. I hope he doesn't let up on them.

Listen to the eloquent words of Beach Bum, RN.

i think the thing in the corner is the reason for most of my traffic here Jack. I put a new one on and a day later word must get around cause I get over 300 hits that are here for an average of 25 seconds.

Of course he's going to approve the pipeline Will. At least now he has the kahunas to make sure it's not the landscape raping deal it would be if republicans had their way.

It's ironic that Ron Paul was an obstatrician yet belongs to the party that puts corporate profit over the well being of sweet, innocent and precious babies. Isn't it RN.

w-dervish said...

Will, I hope you're wrong, but I fear you're right. The pipeline is a very bad idea. I'll be outraged if Obama doesn't veto it.

Truth, if you ran for office your opposition might bring up a certain posting in which Rush boinked a turkey... no doubt they'd paint you as a sick pervert who makes up disgusting lies about Conservatives (despite the fact that the story sounded like it could definitely be true, and was funny regardless).

Truth 101 said...

What I was doing was sealing my base WD. People who like Rush wouldn't vote for me anyway. Pissing them off does me far more good than harm.

Rational Nation USA said...

@ Truth

1) Your presentation is what I find disgusting. But you of course knew that.

2)Some of your subject matter I actually agree with. Like republicans have lost touch with objective reality in their all consuming search to re secure the "gold ring." I mean Obama totally outsmarted them and outmaneuver them. He well deserved this "win."

Too damn bad Bonner and the other "scorched earth' mentality republicans ain't smart enough to figure it out.

3)Ron Paul is again being misrepresented. He is no friend of corporations or crony capitalism. Your shot at him was a cheap one Joe. The pipeline neds to be done. It needs to be done right. And yes it will need monitoring {oversight} to maintain structural integrity. If those are the correct words.

4) Joe, I must agree with wd this time. Your sleazy posts will inded come back to haunt should you ever seek state or national office.

5) Did I mention to Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year?

Shaw Kenawe said...

Happy Holidays to you TRUTH and a healthy and properous 2012.

Truth 101 said...

Bah. If anything, sleaze will help me RN. Bill Clinton is more popular than ever. JFK is beloved for his affair with Marilyn Monroe as much for his actions as president. Newt is at or near the top of the republican polls despite his dumping one wife on her death bed to marry another. Bill Maher is huge in liberal circles and he's naughtier than I am.

If anything I should release the inner sleaze in me. In fact I was considering calling myself "The Naughty Liberal" and trying to get back on at Daily Kos.

Truth 101 said...

I meant bah to RN's comment Shaw. Not your wishes for a merry Christmas which I heartily extend to you and your family as well.

Or should I say, a very naughty Christmas Mistress Shaw. Heh heh heh...

Truth - can't address my points item by item by all means defer and evade.

I am glad to see you have no problem with debauchery.

However, being included with Herr Newtie, I'm disappointed in you! Herr Newtie is beyond debauchery. He's downright evil.

Truth 101 said...

Why would I refute some of your points RN? I agree that republicans have lost touch with reality. Boehner is stupid and Ron Paul is misrepresented.

Much of Paul's misrepresentation is the doing of his followers. They've invented a hero. The man is a golden calf representing everything they want to believe.

If we don't drill for oil. If we don't drill for natural gas. If we don't mine for coal. If we don't utilize nuclear power. And if we only construct windmills if they don't block our pristine views to Nantucket (yeah, a little shot at the Kennedys there). ?????????

Truth 101 said...

I have 300 shares of Chesapeake Energy that are killing me Will. We need to utilize natural gas more. We must convert coal fired and nuclear plants to safe natural gas plants supplied by the good folks of Chesapeake Energy.

And who's demanding we stop drilling. We just want it done safely. Think of the babies Will!

Rational Nation USA said...

Truth - Are you saying that NOBODY is against drilling?

We need to effective utilize all energy sources.

The problem with nuclear is dispensing of spent rods safely.

Anybody thought about beans?

Truth 101 said...

Who is against safe and responsible drilling RN?

Let me rephrase that. Who with any pragmatism and sense of reality is against safe and responsible drilling RN?

Will "take no prisoners" Hart said...

It just seems that a lot of people on the left are against any form of energy that doesn't come with a Copper Tone commercial affixed to it. I'm relieved to know that you're not one of them, Truth.

Will: It just seems that a lot of people on the left are against any form of energy that [isn't green].

It only seems that way to deluded idiots on the Right. Those of us on the Left are for moving away from the use of fossil fuels and toward more green energy over the next few decades. Obviously we can't stop using oil all at once.

I (along with, I'd confidently wager, a large majority of people on the Left) also support safe and responsible drilling.

Will "take no prisoners" Hart said...

Anonymous wrote: "If he [Mr. Obama] had convictions, political honor, or courage we would have seen it by now. He does not. it's election time - tell them what they want to hear."

Yeah. Right.

Mr. Obama had no courage when he risked his entire presidency at the start by getting ACA passed, or in making a very tough decision to go after bin Laden and not have that mission blow up in his face and sink his presidency. No courage there. Nope. Not when disaffected lefties or hate deranged rights look at PBO accomplishments through their blinders.

There's nothing wrong with Mr. Obama's convictions. He has kept a majority of his promises. PolitiFact is keeping a list of them.

What the hell is "political honor?"

Describe what that term would mean, please.

Thanks.

Rational Nation USA said...

Shaw - I believe honor, in the political sense would mean, or should mean staying true to one's principles and convictions. Taking complete and personal responsibility for one's record.

Disagreeing with the President does not mean he has no honor. As long as the President is truthful he has honor. Being wrong in one persons view does not mean the other lacks honor.

Will "take no prisoners" Hart said...

Shaw, I give Mr. Obama a lot of credit for smoking terrorists and I don't think that his Presidency has been as bad as those on the right (and the left, actually - remember, the professional left?) have consistently said, BUT to say that this guy is some sort of "new politician" is ludicrous. a) He took more money from Fannie and Freddie in 4 years than Christopher Dodd did in 20. b) During the 2008 campaign, when there were Muslim women sitting in the front row of one his speeches, his staffers (granted, maybe he didn't even know about this one) unceremoniously had these women move to be out of camera angle. c) During the mosque controversy in NYC, after having first given a strong show of support for it, he backtracked and did a little soft-shoe (compare this to Mayor Bloomberg's far more resolute support) instead. d) He avoided his own debt commission's recommendations like the plague (kicking the can down the road instead). e) He put off a decision about the oil pipeline until AFTER the 2012 election. f) His surge in Afghanistan, while one might say that that was courageous, I still can't help but think that that was a political calculation, too (the fact that he had backed himself into a corner via a campaign promise and basically HAD TO follow through). I mean, don't get me wrong here. Your support of the man is at least somewhat admirable but, come on. This whole "he isn't anywhere near as doltish as the other guys" argument is starting to get played. So played.

w-dervish said...

Will: ...smoking terrorists...

I find the killing of American citizens without a trial very troubling.

Will: ...compare this to Mayor Bloomberg's far more resolute support.

Bloomberg is a libertarian who supports individual rights... the right of muslims to build a mosque anywhere they want (good), and the right of the rich and powerful to rob and pillage from the working class (bad). Overall Bloomberg gets a huge thumbs down from me.

Will: He avoided his own debt commission's recommendations like the plague.

Thank goodness.

Will: He put off a decision about the oil pipeline until AFTER the 2012 election.

He should veto it now... but so long as he vetos it after the election I'll count this as a positive.

Will: His surge in Afghanistan... was courageous...the fact that he had backed himself into a corner via a campaign promise and basically HAD TO follow through.

He HAD to? What would have been courageous would have been not to surge but to pull out. I think he could have, and should have, changed his mind.

Will: ...he isn't anywhere near as doltish as the other guys argument is starting to get played. So played.

This is your opinion, which I'm sure most here don't agree with. I know I don't give a crap that you think this.

Rational Nation USA said...

WD - I am quote certain a whole bunch of people don't give a crap what you think either.

Truth 101 said...

I give a crap about everyone's opinion. I am above all else a nice person.

w-dervish said...

"Rational" Nation: I am quite certain a whole bunch of people don't give a crap what you think either.

I'm positive you're right about a "whole bunch" of people not giving a crap about what I think. But you're implying that I said this about Will, which I did not.

I said I didn't give a crap about him thinking it is "so played" to say Obama is a better choice than the Republican hopefuls because they're all terrible.

The "not giving a crap" sentiment was a response to that SPECIFIC statement.

Will "take no prisoners" Hart said...

wd, where did Mr. Bloomberg ever say that it was good for the rich and powerful to rob and pillage from the working class? Mr. Bloomberg raised taxes on the rich and increased spending on education. Hell, even Al Sharpton has said that Mr. Bloomberg's been a decent mayor.......What, 'cause he's rich? 'Cause he wouldn't let those squatters in the park camp INDEFINITELY?

I think we also need to give thanks to the Republican Party for giving us such a wide assortment of fools, buffoons, and side show freaks as they determine who they think will best lead this country forward.

I think the Republicans need to focus on their party and give up on attempting to run the country in 2012...

Jerry Critter said...

I find it amazing that the republicans would risk their future by doing their best to prevent Obama from achieving any success with the economy, while at the same time not grooming a candidate that can beat him in 2012. Their current crop of candidates are truly buffoons incapable of winning a general election. They are handing Obama the election.

Maybe they are aiming at 2016. Jeb Bush?
